|
Overview Fundamental to the Evangelism Department is the scripture quoted by Jesus in (Mark 16:15) "Go into the entire world and preach the good news to all creation." Hence, the department's vision has become interwoven in that of the plan of God for the church which is 'MISSIO DEI' and that of the local church. And, under the leadership of Assistant Pastor Marcel Hutson, the Evangelism Department has been working assiduously to fulfill this mandate. Noteworthy, is that since the acquisition of the Gospel Truck in 2006, the gospel of Jesus Christ is being taken to communities beyond Georgetown. Communities that have been reached are Para Fait Harmony (in which an outstation has been established), East La Penitence, Samata Point (East Bank Demerara), Ann's Grove Clonebrook (East Coast Demerara), Sophia and Hopetown (Berbice). Since mission is the heart beat of God, He is counting on every believer to become involve in sharing the good news with the lost and winning them for Him. General Objectives The general objectives of the department are as follow: 1. To win souls for Christ on continuous basis. 2. To impact the lives of individuals for positive change in behaviour pattern. 3. To expand/enlarge the Kingdom of God in our nation and further a field. Expected Outcome It is expected that the persons in the communities targeted will: Make a serious decision to follow and serve Christ. Portray lifestyles that are exemplary in the sight of their fellowman. Grow and develop spiritually, economically and socially as they become exposed to the word of God, which will ultimately lead to Community Transformation. Target Group The target group includes men, women and children from every facet and strata of society. Modalities The modalities for the delivery of the gospel include preaching, dancing, singing and the use of the multimedia. Projections The Evangelism Department proposes to work closely with the leader of the Missions Department, Pastor David Hermonstine, to plant a number of churches in Guyana. |
