THE MARRIAGE MINISTRY
This ministry is a very important facet at First Assembly of God Wortmanville since the Senior Pastor and Church Board overly emphasize the importance of Family both to God and to the nation.
This ministry a component of the Family and Marriage Ministry is coordinated largely by Bro. and Sis. Neil and Audrey Corey and promotes programs that enhances marriage and family life amongst the believers.
One of the hallmark program is the Annual Marriage retreat designed especially for spouses. The Next Retreat – 2012 will be held at Princes Hotel at Providence in February.
The Marriage Ministry is also responsible for counseling sessions for couples with the intention of getting married. This program runs for seven consecutive sessions where some important topics are discussed. Some of the topics under discussion are Covenant, One Flesh, Sowing and Reaping, Forgiveness, Intimacy etc.
These sessions are held on Thursdays from 19:00hrs prior to the date of the wedding announced. Both spouses must attend and an attendance of 71% must be achieved.
WEDDINGS
This is a ceremony in which two people are united in marriage or a similar institution. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of wedding vows by the couple, presentation of a gift and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or leader.
At First Assembly we offer the service of wedding to couples who are seriously contemplating making a life long commitment.
These services are conducted by the Senior Pastor Rev. M.R. Massiah or Assistant Pastor Rev. Winston Assanah.
The Marriage ceremony is conducted either by the couples obtaining a license obtained from the Guyana Post Office or by Banns being published at the church for three consecutive weeks prior to the date of the wedding.
Persons interested in being married at First Assembly of God Wortmanville must first make contact with the Marriage Ministries Department during office hours (Tuesday – Friday; 8AM – 4PM) to be advised on the criteria for marriage.

THE ELDERLY CLUB
This is a club run by the church that came into existence almost three (3) years ago on 16th February, 2009.
The club as the name suggests caters for the elderly members and elderly persons from the community and takes them on escursions in the Botanical Gardens or on the Sea Walls interchangeably. The club meets twice per month on the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays in the Church Sanctuary.
On the 2nd Saturday the group will meet with Shut-ins and on the 3rd Saturday will meet for its statutory meeting.
Currently the membership stands at 25 – 30 persons. The club under the leadership of Bro Stracey Weithers and executive members in the person of Bro and Sis Paul Benjamin and Sis Denise Pearson, focus on studying the bible and exposure of talents as specific days are set aside for Talent Day.
In addition to the above stated activities there are specific days in every month for celebration day for Birthdays and Wedding Anniversaries. Visitations are also done to Geriatric/Retirement Homes e.g. The Palms, Uncle Eddie’s home and others.
At the moment the group is anticipating a fund raiser drive with the aim of purchasing a plot of land and constructing a senior citizen home. The club is also in the process of selecting an official name for the club – Eagle’s Wing Senior Citizen Club has been selected via voting among members.
THERE IS AN OPEN INVITATION TO ALL SENIOR CITIZENS TO JOIN!
